Figurative painter exploring the relationship between man-made environment, landscape and human form.
Limbs and other parts of the body often detached, or multiple figures intertwined , blending with steel pipes, plant stems and flowers. I’m inspired by gender fluidity, body transformation and human connection with our environment and technological progress. Paintings are colorful and vibrant.  I paint large format oil on canvas and mix media where I  experiment with cutting and destroying canvas, implementing twine and silicon strings  in order to make something beautiful out of disorder and vice versa.  I like that play with contradictions: ugly and beautiful, strong, masculine objects and feminine landscape.
Those two elements of man made urban environment and nature, are deeply rooted in my life.
After getting sick with Scarlatina in kindergarten, I spent my early years painting and playing in my grandmother’s garden, rather than my peers, barely speaking until age 7.
My analytical research-like contact with nature that I had early on as a child, while spending time in Maize Research Institute where my father was working as an Agriculture scientist, keeping him company while he spent hours in the fields looking closely at plants and changes that appear on their leaves, contributed to my unique artistic take on the coexistence of plants and the urban world..
I was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, when my peaceful childhood swiftly turned into an unsecure existence in a war-torn country. Daily images of war, scarcity of food and eventually the NATO bombing in 1999 are my memories of that time. The destruction I witnessed in Serbia has a parallel for me with the destruction we all witness in our environment. I often depict abandoned places, cold concrete architecture, dirty garages and streets which resemble the destroyed buildings that still scatter Belgrade to this day due to the bombing. Growing up in a once powerful proud country that was disintegrating into chaos, influences my current work.
